It was quite cold today, so I used some hot water to both clean and soften the panel. ( Plastic )

Removed the panel screw from underneath T20

Pulled back the wheel arch cover slightly to gain better access and see what was going on.

Reseated the tab and attached with white gaff tape. Temporary until I can locate some of the little metal clips.

Difficult to see but in the last phot.

    Cheers

    Hello.

Has any one tried to "snap" back into place this piece. Approx 10cm in length in from wheel arch and separated by 3-4 mm. Just on one side.

It is the lowest section of the front. ( not the black rubber spoiler lip )

Seems like a lot of work to remove the complete front bumper / body work to gain access to the clips etc which join these pieces.

I have looked at videos, and might try loosening the 2 bolts under this section to get some wriggle room.

Otherwise some white gaff tape until I have a better reason to dive deeper.

Thanks and have a great Xmas.

    Hello.

So, if I understand the problem correctly, you have replaced the door seal "Edge Protection" and now when closing the window it reaches

almost fully closed then opens again as if it has encountered an obstruction.

Assuming the door seal has been replaced correctly and is well seated maybe try this.

I had exactly the same issue when I first bought our cabrio.

I did not need to replace the seal, although it also had a small tear at the bottom.

So original seal in my case.

If the door was open it would be close OK. As it would not contact the top seal when closing.

I also lubed the glass edge rubber to reduce friction but same problem.

What solved my issue was a gentle push on the window frame away from the car with the door open.

    I guess something moved slightly.

It was enough to allow the glass to close onto the top seal without excessive friction.

In my case it was the drivers door window.

    Sorry for my long reply.

Hope it may work for you too.

Mine has been fine since, 3 years

    Hello.

For me, normal to change all fluids when buying used. Also 50 other "items" to establish a base line. :)

Had the coolant changed by the MB dealer in December '22.

Very long horizontal hoses ( Radiator front / Engine rear ) and being new to 453, was worried about trapped air.

They have the tools to do this properly. Did notice they disconnected the lines under the body about half way to drain and I guess refill.

    IIRC 10.5 Lts when diluted.

    Coolant used see photo's.

Also had them flush and refill the brake fluid.

    Enjoy the drive

    Cheers

    Hello everyone.

    Quiet reader here in Portugal.

Bought a used Smart,18,600kms very well cared for.

Have just completed my 2nd oil change 453 Cabrio turbo 2019. 31,000 kms

Standard practice. NEW copper compression ring each time. ( seam up, ie onto sump )

50Nm was fine ( but nothing more )

Using Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40. Very happy.

4.3 Lts drain level and I prefer warm.

Has never used even a drop of oil.

Oil filter to 25NM, but plastic and was happy with 20Nm.

Lube the rubber ring and be sure to remove the old one.

Fun car to drive, City and Expressway. Very capable little car.

Thanks for all the tips from this site.

    Obrigado.

    Guten Morgen 453'ers

My first post although I read the forum often.

Thanking you for a very fine and informative site.

We also are very keen to tow our Bushtec Quantum trailer behind our little gem.

After 30,000 kms pulling behind our moto it would be absolutely perfect.

Legalities and speed limits aside, I know that safety would not be compromised in any way.

Which is why we chose this for touring on the moto.

One difference is that the connection is not the normal "ball" but a "pin" with a captured ball.

Similar to tractor 3 point linkage for accessories. This attachment allows 360º of rotation with no slack.

Very important when behind 2 wheels.

So, Mister dot Com, seems to be a good choice but as noted €€€ !

    I will keep saving. 😻

    Danke

Start / Stop was completely new to me. I'm old school and while I see its use for Euro 6, etc, after start, I always switch on low beam headlights

(many years moto riding habits) and join with that action switching off the auto switch. Except if I don't. :(

    I can relate to # 2 above.
